A backflow test insures that the check valves and all moving parts work correctly, In Order to test a device, the water MUST be turned off to everything the backflow preventor serves for about 5 minutes.
Our backflow tests includes the test, filling out the paper work, submitting to the city, all truck and travel charges, shop supplies etc.
When a backflow preventor fails, we will attempt to repair the device on site at the time of testing. we will either clean the device of debris, replace rubber parts , or replace the internal check valves, and retest the device. Sometimes, the device will not be able to be repaired, and we will provide a quote for replacement.
The City of Winnipeg Requires a testable backflow preventor on all commercial and industrial properties, as well as some residential properties directly after the water meter. The City of Winnipeg requires a form of cross connection control on all minor, moderate and severe hazards. Not sure if you need one? ask us.

The city of Winnipeg requires a backflow device be tested annually, at the time of installation, and if the device is relocated.
Typically we book our tests and installs Monday - Friday, 8am - 4pm. However, we understand that sometimes, with the water needing to be shut off, this isn't always an option, we are able to schedule around any time restraints.
A permit is required and all new or replaced backflow devices, The permit must be obtained by a licensed plumbing contractor, and the device must be tested by a licensed backflow tester. Yes... we do both.
